This customer is a modern CPG company on a mission to Create Things People Like More through purpose-led brands, products, and experiences. They’re the first CPG company to give customers an omnichannel experience across multiple brands, leveraging deep direct-to-consumer experience with strong partnerships across mass retailers, drugstores, grocery, and club stores globally.

With strong values like “Grow Forth” and “See The Person. Serve The People,” this company cares deeply about ensuring people feel engaged, motivated, challenged, and, most of all, a sense of belonging. In 2020, they established a DEI department, and launched a DE&I council of diverse members across their organization.

With these new initiatives, it was important to measure the impact and effectiveness of their employee programs, while reducing the manual processes for ERG Leaders. Five to Nine easily implemented into our customer’s workflow by offering seamless integrations into their existing tech stack.

Five to Nine’s attendance tracking “definitely reduced the time spent on manually tracking, and it definitely helped improve the accuracy. I'm glad that we are able to continue to get more accurate data of attendees to help support our ERGs, and the business case around it.”

Why partner with Five to Nine?

After the initial onset of the pandemic, our customer decided to implement a hybrid-first working model. They wanted to increase engagement and retention while moving events and programs from strictly virtual to hybrid and in-person formats but soon experienced pain points in this approach.

When the Manager of DEI & Culture Programs was contacted by the sales team at Five to Nine, “it was just something about this email” - a cold outreach email that he typically would have ignored - he realized “this [platform] might be useful for what we’re trying to accomplish here.”

Challenges faced before implementing Five to Nine’s event management platform

As this customer planned for Q1/Q2 of 2022, they focused on investing in a hybrid working model that would foster connections and community amongst the employees who opted to come into the office. The challenge was measuring the success of these employee programs.

Before Five to Nine, “we didn’t have any good data around how our ERGs were tracking”; capturing data was pretty manual. Individual ERG leaders were tasked with capturing important data points like attendance and feedback, but were inundated with planning and executing programming.

Transitioning from virtual to hybrid presented a unique challenge in tracking attendance and getting an accurate depiction of employee participation in these programs.

How Five to Nine improved their ability to collect informative data

“I think for the [ERG] leaders their goal is to run great programs, and getting this data is so important for me because it's helpful to prove the impact that the ERGs have,” shares the Manager of DEI & Culture Programs - who was happy with the ability to automate in-person attendance tracking so that the ERG leaders at didn’t have to worry about it.

This customer was “super excited” to pilot the in-person attendance tracking feature, and initially rolled out the feature at a couple of in-person events.

Employees were accustomed to utilizing QR codes for other purposes, so this change management was met with a positive response.

With Five to Nine’s in-person attendance tracking solution, attendees can scan a QR code, displayed on a screen or in a physical location to check themselves into an event. This data is then reflected in the event’s analytics - alongside the virtual attendance data collected from Zoom.

Previously estimating the number of attendees who showed up to events in person, our customer was able to improve event attendance accuracy by 25%.

Using Five to Nine’s data across the organization

“I feel lucky that our leaders thinks ERGs are important, and values the work that they do - and they value data and results” sharing that they haven’t been able to quantify that in a meaningful way before implementing Five to Nine.

This data can be shared with ERG leaders’ managers for performance reviews and promotions. Additionally, having these “hard numbers” is helpful when it comes to asking for budget for employee programming.

This customer also highlighted using Five to Nine’s post-event survey data, specifically event NPS scores, in comms that discussed DEI initiatives where ERGs were involved. This data is also shared in a yearly summary that shows the impact of DEI and Culture programs.

What does it mean to be a partner with Five to Nine?

As this customer continues to improve the hybrid-first model, partnering with Five to Nine is essential in collecting data, streamlining workflows, and powering impactful employee programs.

The Manager of DEI & Culture Programs shared he’s “super excited to work with [us].”
